What am I racing

Pro-Spec is a newer class in Champ Off-Road. The chassis is similar to the Pro-Lite trucks that have been around for many years, but with a V6 engine and 4-speed manual transmission in place of the Pro-Lite V8 and automatic transmission. Also living up to its name as more of a "spec" class, our tuning and modification options are much more restricted and puts more emphasis on a class with even equipment and the resulting racing being very close.

Engine & Drivetrain

- The engine, a General Motors LV3 GM engine that came in large vans starting around 2018, is delivered to us sealed straight from GM. Absolutely no alterations are allowed from how the engine arrives, including the exhaust manifolds.

- The transmission is a G-Force GF4-A 4-speed manual(H-pattern). Originally designed for pavement racing, the GF4-A allows us to quickly change gear ratios for driver preference or track conditions. This is the only thing we are allowed to alter in the drivetrain.

- The rear end runs a custom axle housing with a Ford 9" center section, custom gun drilled floating axles, and Ehrens PSP billet hubs. The rear-end gearing is locked per the rules at 5.67.

Chassis & Suspension

- My chassis came from the Flying Dutchman race shop in Appleton, WI. Originally built as a Pro-Lite in 2014 for Chad Rayford, it was converted to a Pro-Spec prior to the 2023 Champ Off-Road Season. Chad would go on to win the Pro-Spec Championship that season.

- The overall chassis has guidelines provided by Champ Off-Road, however some of the tubes are allowed to be altered in their placement. The main square frame tubes are required to follow the exact measurements and placement in the rulebook.

- We must run above the minimum weight of 3000lbs- driver included. No more than 2 shocks are allowed per corner of the truck. Shock mounting position is open. Hydraulic brakes are open to any brand preferred. Add in driver safety equipment and the truck is ready to go racing!
